Ways to Enjoy Tequila

This Mexican Drink, Tequila, has grown in status. Today, it also ranked in the most sipped liqueurs in the world.Their are many ways to drink this White, sometimes Golden Liqueur like Margaritas, Sangrita, Bandera, Submarino, Coscorron.

Margarita

Most Popular Technique to sip Tequila. Before you intend to serve this drink, place some glasses in the freezer and allow them to frost over. Moisten the rim of the glass with the juice from the lime, turn up-side-down and place gently on a bed of salt (for the classic ’salted rim’). Place the tequila, Cointreau, lemon juice and crushed ice into a cocktail mixer and shake well. Pour your mix into the glass. while avoiding the salted rim. Serve immediately.

Sangrita

Some times, a shot of tequila is sipped with a shot of sangrita – a sweet, sour and spicy drink typically made from orange juice, grenadine (or tomato juice) and hot chillies. Alternatively, the Equal-sized shots of tequila and sangrita are sipped. Sangrita when sipped alone also gives great taste. .

Bandera

Here Tequila shot is sipped with a shooter of lime juice. The three shooters are of the color of mexican flag or bandera, Green, White and Red.

Submarino

This is the shot of tequila with a beer chaser. In this, a shot of tequila is inverted inside the beer mug so when you drink the beer the shot glass tips a little and let tequila escape into the beer. Equal-sized shots of tequila and sangrita are sipped alternately, without salt or lime.

Coscorron

This translates as a “knock on the head.”
Add a bit of lemon-lime soda and a few drops of key lime (limon) to a shot of tequila. Then, with your hand covering the top of the shot glass, tap (gently, please) the glass on the table and drink it down. Now you surely know why it is called as a “knock on the head.”

As the ‘Salt and Lemon’ routines remain all time favourite and the most popular, but it is by no means the only way to down a shot. Their are some other new ways of drinking this liqueur have been discovered.

Lick-Shoot-Suck

In many countries, including in most pubs in India, a single shot of tequila is often served with salt and a slice of lime. This is called ‘tequila crude’ or ‘lick-shoot-suck’ (referring to the way in which the combination of ingredients is imbibed). The drinker moistens the back of his hand below the index finger and pours on the salt.  Then the salt is licked off the hand, tequila is drunk and the fruit slice is quickly bitten.

Achtung Baby

In Germany, tequila gold is often consumed with cinnamon (before sipping the drink) and slices of orange (after the drink is downed).
